Maramataka is a M?ori lunar calendric system brought down to Aotearoa by our Polynesian ancestors. It is an ancient tool related to the moon's repeating cycles that is informed by a millennia-long practice of local environmental observations and a profound connectedness to everything in nature. Maramataka allowed our t?puna to not only settle and adapt to hundreds of islands dotted across the world’s largest ocean but also provided them with a template to survive in those environments for at least a thousand years to come.
